To Ensure Reliability

Verification of assistance animal documentation safeguards the rights of individuals with disabilities who require accommodations for their assistance animals. By confirming that the documentation is issued by a licensed health professional, is based on a disability-related need, and is in accordance with state and federal guidelines, this process guarantees access to reasonable accommodations. I don’t have any animals. Why do I need to sign up?

We understand not everyone lives with animals, and that's perfectly fine! For our verification process, we only need to know the status of animals residing in your home. If you don't have any animals, simply fill out the form indicating so – it's that easy.

Even if there are animals in your residence that aren't yours, you can note that when signing up. No need to create a profile or provide additional information beyond this.

If you decide to welcome a furry friend into your home later on, updating your information is simple through our app. You can then begin the process of filling out an animal application hassle-free.

Why should I care about Animal Management?

OurPetPolicy is designed to promote harmonious living with animals. When it comes to animal management, everyone benefits from a safer and happier environment. By ensuring that animals are vaccinated and accountable for aggressive behavior, we not only enhance the well-being of our furry companions but also contribute to the overall safety and happiness of our community.

What is the purpose of OurPetPolicy?

OurPetPolicy is your all-in-one solution for managing your beloved animals, offering a seamless application process while promoting responsible animal ownership. Our platform streamlines the application process, making it easier than ever to add animals to your lease.

We prioritize data management, requiring up-to-date vet records to ensure the safety and well-being of all animals and people. With our innovative Pet Mapping feature, property managers can quickly and easily identify animals within a community. This feature serves as a vital tool in instances such as a lost dog or encountering an aggressive animal. In such cases, residents will be promptly informed, contributing to a safer and more connected community for both animals and their owners.

How long does it take to get my information verified?

For pets, if all required documents are uploaded and comply with the property’s pet policy, you can expect verification within 1-2 business days.

For assistance animals, the verification timeline depends on various factors such as the time taken to upload documents, the reliability of the documentation provided, and the duration required for your health practitioner to verify the accuracy of your documentation. Please note, that if there are inconsistencies with your documents, the verification process may take longer.

Rest assured, our support team is responsive and dedicated to ensuring quick move-ins for all residents. We strive to expedite the verification process while maintaining accuracy and compliance with regulations.

What do I need to upload to my profile?

To complete your profile, you'll need to upload the following:

• Animal Photo: Provide a clear photo of your animal companion.

• Basic Animal Info: Fill out essential details about your animal, including their name, breed, and any distinguishing features.

• Current Vet Record: Ensure you have a current and up-to-date vaccination record for your animal (a current rabies vaccination is most common).

• Signature on Property’s Animal Addendum: Sign the property's animal addendum, indicating your agreement to abide by their animal policies.

• For Service Animals/ESA for Individuals with Non-Observable Disabilities: Provide documentation from a licensed healthcare provider (HP) confirming the disability-related need for a service animal or emotional support animal (ESA). It's important to note that we respect your privacy and never inquire about the nature of your disability, in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

By uploading these documents, you'll help us ensure the safety, well-being, and compliance of all animals within our community.

What is a reasonable accommodation request and what does that have to do with my assistance animal?

A reasonable accommodation request is a formal petition made by individuals with disabilities to make modifications or exceptions to rules, policies, practices, or services to access housing or other opportunities. This right is protected under the Fair Housing Act and enforced by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

In the context of assistance animals,  you may request a reasonable accommodation from your housing provider, to live with your assistance animal, even if the property has a "no pets" policy. This request is supported by documentation from a licensed healthcare provider confirming the disability-related need. It's important to note that we respect your privacy and never inquire about the nature of your disability, in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
